1. Print out a hexagon (a quick internetsearch for the shape should provide you with a printable picture of the shape). Cut out the hexagon to use as a template for the base.
2. Use a pencil to draw the hexagon shape onto your piece of wood. Ifable, use straight edges already available for one of your sides which will help when it comes time to cut.
3. Once your template is on the wood, cut out the hexagon shape from your wood using a bandsaw (radial arm saw or table saw will also work). Keep your lines as straight as possible while cutting.
4. Sand the edges of the hexagon to get rid of any splinters from cutting and smooth them out. Wipe it down with a cloth to get off any excess sawdust.
5. Apply finish to the wood. Here we used a glossy spray lacquer that dries quickly.
6. Use super glue to adhere the glass globe vase to the wood. Place the glue on the bottom of the glass globe and set it down in center of the wood hexagon. Hold in place and allow to dry according to the instructions on the back of the bottle.
7. Once the super glue is done drying you can build your terrarium in your new vessel! Building an open terrarium is easy, you are basically just potting your succulents in a glass pot!Place rocks down in the bottom of the glass to allow for drainage of water in the soil. Next fill about half way with soil and plant the succulent!
Dress up your little terrarium with glass globs, trinkets, beads, or little air plants. Whatever you fancy to add color and interest to your new little home accessory!
Place in a spot in your home that gets at least 6 hours of indirect light per day and water when the soil dries out!
