Books are a staple in any home. But instead of just storing them on an out-of-the-way bookshelf or in boxes under your bed, why not use them to enhance your style and decorate your home? Here are a few ways you can make your book collection into stylish home décor.
The simplest way to show off your books is by simply displaying them on shelves. Large bookshelves make a great statement and show off your entire collection. Just be sure to arrange your books in a way that is aesthetically pleasing, and it won’t look like you just ran out of storage space.
One way to make your books look great on a shelf is to color coordinate them. Arrange them from light to dark or just choose some of your favorite colors to display on a particular shelf. This makes their placement look more intentional and can even help your books to better complement the rest of your room.
Some books, particularly old ones with illustrations, can actually make great art. Either use the pages themselves or make photocopies of them, and place the copies into frames to display around your home.
If you’re going for a more dramatic effect, you can even use book pages to cover your entire wall. Again, you can use the pages themselves if it’s not a book you intend to read again, or make copies (though this would be a much more tedious process for this many pages).
Coffee table books and other favorites can be displayed separately from the rest of your collection. Choose a few and stack them on a coffee or side table. You can even use them as a platform to display other knick-knacks.
If you have some duplicates or books you don’t intend to read again, there are ways to make them into other useful items. Glue the outsides of the pages together and hollow out the inside to make a container. Or cut a small circle out of the middle to make the book into a planter.
There are plenty of ways to use books as home décor. So before exiling them to storage, consider how they could benefit your home’s look and find a method that works best for you.
