“Fly like a butterfly. Sting like a bee.” I always think of those lyrics when I see a black and yellow color scheme in a home. It reminds me of a bumblebee, but a very chic and sophisticated bumblebee at that. Black goes well with any color, but it looks especially great with yellow. Add in some incredible accessories, gorgeous art, and cool headboards, and you have a winning space. Just check out the inspiration pictures below to see what I mean.
My favorite part of this room is the awesome lamps. Thick bright yellow lamp bases are the only time that color makes an appearance in the room, but it’s the perfect touch. The large drum shades are contemporary and help set the tone of the room. Chic bed linens make this space feel like a hotel, and need I even mention how gorgeous that metallic wallpaper is?
This is another great room where yellow is the accent color. Gorgeous pillows adorn cozy chairs that make for a beautiful sitting space. A great mix of patterns and pillows make this room especially stylish.
I love how this room utilizes many different types of black and white patterns throughout. The curtains are a completely different pattern from the chic wall paper. A dark black headboard grounds the space, and bright yellow lamps inject personality into the room.{found on site}.
The unique flowered panels on the wall make for an interesting contrast with the zebra bench. Well thought out accessories cover the bookshelves. Even the books are wrapped in yellow or white paper for an incredibly seamless look. Of course, every room also needs a prominent piece of furniture, so this great retro yellow chair completely makes the space. A single faux orchid also ties in the colors.
This awesome home office is beyond enviable. First, I love that these homeowners took the plunge and painted an entire room black. It makes for such a dramatic look and doesn’t even appear dark due to the bright windows and white pieces of furniture. Floor to ceiling yellow curtains help to tie in the color and one very cool desk chair completes the look.{found on site}.
I just love these yellow chairs because of the black piping. It’s so sleek and sophisticated and would look great in a variety of room styles. Also, the attention to detail in this room is superb. For example, check out the great Greek key pattern and the incredible art on the wall for the perfect finishing touches.
I hope these stunning rooms have inspired you to put a little bit of yellow and black into your home. Whether you bring in a few fresh flowers or purchase new furniture, injecting these colors into your home can immediately add sophistication. Also, don’t be afraid to go extra bold, like painting a wall black or buying a completely unique piece of furniture. You won’t be disappointed, because with these colors, more is more.
