When I was a child and then teenager I was in love with action movies, adventure movies, thrillers or horror movies. Although I was not so brave I was watching all those scary and bloody scenes with all sorts of scarring characters. I was fascinated by the appearance of ghosts, vampires or aliens. I remember that I was staying late in the night and waiting to watch these thrilling movies.Now I changed my options and I have not the same preferences.
I love romance movies and drama movies but I still watch thrillers sometimes and adventure movies.Those who heard about The Ghost Writer, in the United Kingdom called The Ghost definitely know about the setting if this movie too. It is a beachfront house in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. It has a well-known Walter Knoll interior and it was the perfect option for this movie.
Unfortunately the setting was changed because the movie could not be filmed in America due to the fact that cult director Roman Polanski was not allowed to enter the country.The façade was built at Usedom, in Germany for exterior location shots of the imposing modernist building, and the interior shots were done on sets constructed at Babelsberg.
The interiors are the reflection of the outside landscape as the use of natural textures too. The grey and dark nuances dominate all the rooms and leather, wood, stone and stainless steel are the common materials met here which seem to create the perfect place for a ghost person.
